Spanish Fort United Methodist Preschool is a church outreach ministry dedicated to providing a loving, Christian environment where children grow academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
The preschool has been part of Spanish Fort United Methodist Church since 1980, serving the needs of our church family and the wider community. The program is organized on a non-profit basis, so fees go toward operating expenses and anything left over is spent on equipment and supplies for the classrooms.
Our goal is to expand the world of the child to include friends in the community, the church, and home, through a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for each age. We meet children where they are and give them room to grow.
School runs weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The morning moves through a steady, predictable pattern so children always know what comes next. Three-year-old and Pre-K classes may add an optional extended day hour until 1:00 p.m.
Children are welcomed at 9:00 and settle into morning work at their tables.
Families send their child’s snack from home. We are a nut-free campus and food is not provided.
Music is basic to every age group, and children sing, move, and learn together.
Games and activities that build coordination and confidence in growing bodies.
Time on the playground, weather permitting, every day.
Hands-on centers and read-aloud time before the day closes at 12:00.
Class placement is based on your child’s age on September 1. Class sizes are small, so applying early gives your child the best chance at a spot.

Enrollment is first come, first served, and the enrollment fee is what holds your child’s place on a roster.

We work to meet the developmental needs of your child in every area, physical and emotional and intellectual as well as social and spiritual, in a caring and Christian atmosphere. Children learn basic shapes, colors, numbers, and letters at the level best suited to their age and development.
Through music, art, drama, and Show and Tell, children are encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings. Unit studies introduce them to the wider world and help them learn more about themselves and the place they live, and we encourage good stewardship of that world alongside care for their own belongings. Holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter are kept with emphasis on the religious meaning behind them.

Apart from the start and end of school and the week of Christmas break, the preschool follows the Baldwin County school calendar. If Baldwin County cancels classes, the preschool cancels as well.
The preschool celebrates many holidays through the year. Some events run across two days so that every class is included, and when that happens we send a sign-up link with the date for your child’s class and what you can bring. These parties happen during school hours as a special snack or a special school day, with drop-off and pick-up as normal.
